Sanseløs

This is a live action film-project that I undertook during my internship at Ungdomsøen.

I was given much freedom when developing this project. My requirements being that all action had to be on the island and that it should contain relevant, youth related subjects. As I am a youth myself and a self-imposed writer, I decided to base the action on my experience under the notorious “Rona”. Mainly trying to convey feelings of loneliness while in company, fear of oneself and emotional escapism. All these themes where perfect to act out on a secluded island.

I had already gathered some essential team components while in preproduction, a cameraman and a producer. I had previously worked with this producer because he was a fellow classmate. I had managed to get him a contract at my internship as his initial internship used him as plow horse. The only contingency of hiring him; I would have to manage him. Which was no problem as we had experience working together.

He was supposed to be the producer of this film, but truth soon revealed itself that managing a production in another country (Denmark) while working remotely in the Netherlands was not ideal.

I soon took over the role of Producer, thinking it a good chance to toil with the role. I rewrote the script giving my classmate a new role within production, 3D animator.
I secured founding from private investors as well as the organization “Ungdomsøen.”

Hired the rest of my crew; 2x runner, focus puller, sound technician, caterer and of course I also arranged auditions for the two leading actors. These auditions where held in a church that I had access to.

I had written drone shots into the film and quickly found that it would be cheaper to get a license for the drone myself rather than paying someone else to fly it, as I already had access to a drone.

The filming days where hectic, but we managed to get everything done in two days. To what now accumulates a 15-minute film set to release in early 2024.

This was my first experience as a solo director and even through it almost took the life out of me, I loved it. I have found a deep love in leading a team and making sure that everyone works together effectively.

The final product will feature music from the talented composer, Frederik Magle.
